Radiology Upgrade
In 2006/2007 Phillips Medical Systems in conjunction with the Dutch Government helped upgrade the radiology services of a number of hospitals in Zambia. As part of this project they visited Kalene Hospital and donated new X-ray and ultrasound machines. This included installation of the X-ray machine, with protective wall lining, air conditioning and an upgrade of the development room.
In May 2007 Rodney Strachan, a radiologist from Australia, visited to help educate staff on the use of the X-ray and ultrasound machines. Rodney also visited hospitals at Chitotoloki, Chavuma and Loloma.
In 2007 Stephannie Anderson, a radiographer from Canada, joined us and will help with the training of the Zambian radiology staff.
